our story
Wingsurf Greece was founded in 2019 and is the first and only organization of its kind in the country. Our mission is to teach as many people as possible a watersport which has the ultimate combination of freedom and thrill, with the minimum safety risk possible.

Our team has a background from professional Kite- and Windsurfing, and we quickly recognized the many benefits this new sport has in comparison. The most important is perhaps the low learning threshold for everyone no matter age, gender, or previous experience. If you have ever been on a Stand Up Paddleboard, you are already half way there!

  • Dimitris Apalagakis
    Pro Instructor

    Dimitris has been a professional windsurfer most of his life and is one of the best wave athletes in Greece having won numerous regional competitions. He took up the new sport of Wingsurfing in 2019, where he has quickly progressed to be one of the top athletes in the country.


    Language: Greek and English.

    Lessons: Beginner to Expert level.

  • Anders Wennesland
    Founder

    Anders is a Norwegian living in Greece for the past 16 years. He was a semi-professional snowboarder in the 90s and has been a lifelong passionate watersport enthusiast. He took up Wingsurfing in 2019 and is lucky to be able to progress every day at his home spot of Porto Rafti.


    Language: English and Norwegian.

    Lessons: Beginner to Intermediate level.

WSG HOME SPOT
Safe and beautiful Porto Rafti
Welcome to the WSG headquarters and one of the least crowded wingsurfing bays near Athens. Porto Rafti offers a combination of Onshore North wind flat water to swells, with sandy beaches and turquoise colored sea. During the summer season (June-Sept.) you can expect winds from 4 to 7 Beaufort nearly every day, with swells typically from 0.5 to 2m. In the off-season (Oct-May), we also wingsurf with onshore-sideshore South wind conditions on the opposite side of the bay (Agios Spiridonas). On rare occasions, we get a Westerly, South-Westerly, wind which makes it possible to wingsurf in the gorgeous Avlaki bay. The WSG center is situation around 50m. from the safe and sandy beach of the local sailing club which is dedicated spot for watersport launch and teaching. There is a small cafe-bar serving sandwiches, snacks, and drinks.
